GRAPHICS RESONANT SCANNER (GRS and GRS-PS) Scanner for high resolution applications The GRS series, and the GRS-PS series that has an integral position sensor (PS), have been designed and developed for high resolution applications in graphic-art quality imaging, photo-typesetting, surface inspection and similar applications requiring extremely high accuracy. Their highly repeatable sinusoidal scan ensures the accurate placement of pixels (dots) in the cross-scan direction. STANDARD GRS-PS SPEC Cross-Axis Wobble ……… 0.5 arcsec (2.4 µrad) Scan-to-Scan Cross Axis…… Less than 0.5 arcsec (2.4 µrad) With temperature …….. Less than 200 ppm/ Degree C With amplitude……Less than 0.1% for 2:1 change Environmental Operating Temperature………O° C through 75° C (32° F through 167° F) Physical Size……….. 5.60 in* 3.25 in * 2.625 in (142.2 mm * 82.6 mm * 66.7 mm) Mass……………………..1000 grams maximum Mounting ……. Units must be mounting on a rigid mass Mechanical Frequency* …………………. 200 Hz ± 2% 36 mm dia Angle of Scan* ………….48° peak to peak optical ±12° mechanical Mirror* Size ……………….36 mm diameter Flatness …………….1/10 wave at 632.8 nm Coatings ……………Aluminized front surface with an SiO protective overcoat Reflectivity ……………. 95% minimum, at 632.8 nm Scratch and Dig ………………….…. 60/40 or better Alignment ……..Rest Position within 1/2 degree *Other frequencies scan angles, mirror materials, sizes, surface quality, and coatings are available. Electrical Drive voltage ………………………………………10 Volts peak-to-peak Pick-up Voltage ………..1 Volt peak-to-peak at 200 Hz Optical scan angle of 48° peak to peak Position Sensor ……… 35 mA/degree of optical deflection Connector** ……….10-pin. 0.100 inch centres Cable Length** ………………………….11 inches ** Other connectors and cable length available. Drive electronics Optional drive electronics are available to provide an easy way for you to incorporate the scanner into your system. Features •Scan-frequencies………..Up to 250 Hz •Optical scan angle ……. Up to 60° peak-to-peak • Rotational axis wobble …….. 0.5 arcsec (2.4 µrad) •Rotational axis ………..Close to the mirror surface •Rugged construction …………………No wearing parts •Service life ………………virtually unlimited Repeatability The GRS and GRS-PS provide a consistently repeatable Performance, because there are no bearings or other wearing Parts , as in rotary and linear scanners. Low cross-axis wobble is achieved by a patented flexure Design that embodies two sets of twin crossed S-FlexTM Integral position sensor (PS) The GRS-PS has an integral position sensor. The position sensor is based on an elecrooptic subsystem that gives an analog single that is consistently repeatable. It is insensitive to ambient temperature variations, and has high signal to noise ration. In conjunction with an A-to-D converter, timings signals can be provided for placing equally spaced dots .These timing signals compensate for the sinusoidal scan characteristic of the resonant scanner. Quality Our state of the art measurement technique guarantees to you that every GRS scanner performs to specification. Each scanner is tested, and “burnt-in” for 100 million cycles prior to shipment, to ensure customer satisfaction. Remarkably Economic Feature-for-feature, the GRS offers the highest performance for the lowest cost of any comparable scanner in the market today. Please call for technical and sales assistance.
